A rib-focused barbecue restaurant has announced that it will be closing this month. The restaurant cited a change in property ownership as the reason behind the closure. The closure announcement prompted reactions from customers on social media.
Ribbee’s Has Announced Its Upcoming Closure
Ribbee’s in Texas has announced that it will be closing its current location on June 21. The restaurant earned a strong following among barbecue fans in North Texas.
Ribbee’s was founded by three of the owners of the acclaimed Goldee’s BBQ. It has operated at 923 E. Seminary Drive in East Fort Worth for just over two years. The concept was billed as the ‘Raising Cane’s’ of Texas barbecue.
The owners of the restaurant also shared that the closure is due to a change in property ownership. According to the owners, the property’s new owners plan to open their own restaurant in the space. The owners said they are searching for a new location and hope to reopen the concept in the future.
Ribbee’s is known for its ribs-centered menu. Customers can choose from flavors such as original dry rub, sweet BBQ, spicy, and hot honey ribs. Meals typically come with seasoned crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, a house-made roll, and a drink. Menu offerings include Beef Back Ribs, Whole or Half Rack Baby Back Ribs, and the Rib Tip Combo.
Community’s Reaction
The community has frequently praised the restaurant for its tender ribs and the hot honey flavor. Following the announcement, customers shared messages of support and encouragement on social media.
One Instagram user wrote, “Sorry to hear this. Wishing your entire team nothing but success in whatever comes next.”
Some users are also helping Ribbee’s find a new place to relocate. An Instagram user wrote, “I know of an old abandoned Sonic down in Austin if ya wanna relocate.”
Another user wrote, “Being that you’re such an Atlanta Falcons fan, Ribbee’s would absolutely blow up Atlanta.”
Ribbee’s is closing its doors in Fort Worth, but the owners have made it clear that they hope to continue the concept.
