Ugly Bagel is in the works for The Arcade in Nashville. Previously home to Maggie’s Cafe, the space is set to be transformed in the coming months, paving the way for a new breakfast and lunch concept.
The latest food and beverage addition to the historic property’s roster, Ugly Bagel will make its debut at The Arcade later this year. Alongside two other restaurants that have been announced for the building at 65 Arcade Alley, Ugly Bagel is breathing new life into the Arcade Building.
Nashville Business Journal reports that renovations to the building have been ongoing since 2021.
A representative of Ugly Bagel shared a statement about the new concept with What Now Nashville.
“Developed by hospitality veterans Jeff Crabiel and Jake Strang, Ugly Bagel is set to open its doors in fall 2024. The immersive bagel concept will reflect their expertise, boasting unique features such as a ‘bagel concierge,’ exclusive flavor releases, specialty coffee offerings and more.”
Leaning into the self-checkout kiosks that have become popular at quick-service restaurants, Ugly Bagel aims to create a low-anxiety space so guests to take their time ordering.
Co-founder Jeff Crabiel provided a comment on the concept.
“We’re thrilled to announce the upcoming debut of Ugly Bagel in downtown Nashville’s historic Arcade Building,” said Crabiel. “It’s an honor to be a part of the growing bagel revolution, offering a fresh take on the traditional hand-rolled bagel and we’re committed to redefining fast service through a hospitable touch. We can’t wait to spread joy through life’s simple moments with our guests.”
While the closure of Maggie’s Cafe after 26 years in business was a sad moment for long-time patrons, Ugly Bagel’s presumed menu of breakfast and brunch-adjacent foods will keep a piece of the space’s legacy alive.
