D1 Training is opening a new fitness facility in East Nashville for youth and adult athletes. Led by Bobby Walters, the locally owned and operated facility is slated to welcome residents at 747 Douglas Ave.
D1 Training Expands into East Nashville
The nearly 25-year-old fitness concept, which offers a range of athlete-oriented programs, prepares to open the facility on June 25, 2026. The facility will offer training programs for multiple age groups led by certified trainers.
The facility is scheduled to have a grand opening celebration on July 9, 2026. Guests will be able to tour the facility and meet the owner and coaching staff. Other highlights include ribbon-cutting photo opportunities and special pricing on D1 Training packages and apparel.
Attendees can also get specials from local partners offering hydration, peptides, IV therapy, and other wellness services.
Programs to be Offered
The East Nashville community can expect four age-based programs at the facility, as shared below.
- Rookie (ages 7-11)
- Developmental (ages 12-14)
- Prep (ages 15-18)
- D1 Adult
Each program follows a training format that includes warm-ups, strength work, conditioning, and recovery exercises. These include dynamic warm-up, performance, strength program, core and conditioning, and cool down.
In addition to group workouts, the facility will offer semi-private and one-on-one training sessions.
About the Facility Owner and Operator
The East Nashville location is owned and operated by Bobby Walters, who joins D1 Training’s growing network of franchise owners. Many of the brand’s franchise owners are current or former professional and collegiate athletes. Other partners are NBA star Chris Paul and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow.
A former athlete and youth football coach, Walters previously worked in enterprise software sales. He was introduced to D1 Training when his son attended its Franklin facility and was driven to carry forward the franchise ownership.
Besides this, Walters knew D1 founder Will Bartholomew from before, as the two attended college together.
The latest initiative by Walters is now bringing along a performance-oriented facility spanning 3,300 square feet. The facility is expected to create six new jobs for East Nashville locals.
Walters said, “D1 immediately felt personal to me because it brought me back to the environment I missed most from my athletic days. Watching my son train at D1 reminded me how impactful great coaching and mentoring can be, and I immediately knew I wanted to bring that same experience to families and athletes in East Nashville.”
Company CEO Dan Murphy praised Walters’ connection to the brand and the East Nashville community. Murphy added, “D1 is a one-of-a-kind fitness experience that’s built around the individual and meant to help people meet their athletic goals. Our strong network of franchisees embodies our core values to bring the D1 Training vision to life, and we know Bobby will do just that in East Nashville and its surrounding communities.”
As a national fitness franchise, the company serves over 30,000 athletes of different age groups. Founded by former NFL player Will Bartholomew in 2001, the company has 160-plus locations across the U.S. In addition, 100 franchises are currently in development.
D1 Training’s East Nashville location continues the brand’s national expansion and strengthens its presence in the fitness industry.
