For those in Lafayette who have been keeping an eye on the project, the wait is almost over for a new Superior Grill location at 2320 Kaliste Saloom Road. Construction is ongoing, and an opening date is expected for 2024.
Founded in Shreveport, the Tex-Mex restaurant has built its reputation on crave-able savory dishes, happy hour specials and frosty margaritas. While discussing expanding operations at the New Orleans Superior Grill location with What Now New Orleans, general manager McKinley Eastman said the Lafayette location will closely resemble the location in Baton Rouge, “with respect to the footprint and the overall look.”
“Each one of our locations has locally adapted menus and specials,” he added. “So, Lafayette is going to feature a bit more seafood, whereas our location in Shreveport might feature more steak.”
Eastman also noted that both the general manager and kitchen manager at the upcoming Lafayette location have extensive experience working at the New Orleans location.
The new Superior Grill will be located in the former Randol’s Restaurant and Seafood Processing. After being in business for 50 years, Randol’s closed in November 2021. Longtime owner Frank Randol recently acquired a 4-acre property in Breaux Bridge, and he has announced plans to open a new concept: Randol’s Restaurant & Dance Hall.
