Chef Sujan Sarkar is set to launch a new dining idea in NYC. Elder, a British Indian chophouse blending steakhouse traditions with Indian flavors, will open at Henry Hall on August 6, 2026. The opening follows Sarkar’s debut of Michelin-starred restaurant Indienne at Henry Hall.
Chef Sujan Sarkar Brings Elder to Hudson Yards
Elder will be located in the luxury residential building Henry Hall, at 517 West 38th Street. The restaurant will join Chef Sujan Sarkar’s existing restaurant Indienne and upcoming cocktail bar Apas at Henry Hall. These establishments are a part of Sarkar’s growing culinary presence in the neighborhood.
The concept draws from Sarkar’s decade of experience cooking in London and his Indian culinary influences. Sarkar describes Elder as a British steakhouse influenced by Indian flavors, techniques, and ingredients. The restaurant’s name references elderflower, an ingredient commonly used in both British and South Asian cuisine.
According to Eater New York, the restaurant will have a 3,300-square-foot space with seats for about 100 guests. The interiors feature hunter green and marine blue tones, ochre accents, Carrara marble, and dark wood elements.

Key menu highlights include a Berkshire pork rib chop and horseradish raita. Bone marrow nihari gravy and red pepper makhani sauces are also featured. The seafood and poultry include Dover sole and a tandoor chicken roulade.
Vegetarian options include a beet Wellington, paneer lasagna, and jackfruit cutlet. There is also a tomato-plum salad with rasam sorbet. Dessert options and the beverage program will offer a holistic meal for diners.
Elder is accepting reservations and will operate from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
The British Indian chophouse concept adds another dining option to Hudson Yards and expands Sarkar’s presence in the city.
