Two lifelong friends are bringing a health-focused breakfast spot to the West Village.

Sourced Kitchen, owned by Esra Ozturk and Janhavi Gadam, will open at 152 7th Ave. S. this fall.

“We really cared about eating well, eating healthy, but when life inevitably got busy, there didn’t feel like there was an easy place to grab a breakfast that felt fresh, thoughtfully made, with high protein and built around the kind of ingredients we wanted to eat every day,” Gadam told Whatnow New York City.

That’s when the idea took shape.

“We want to build a neighborhood breakfast spot that we wish existed when we moved to New York City and just really create a place where people don’t have to compromise between eating well and getting on with their day,” Gadam said.

Sourced Kitchen blends Gadam’s passion for cooking and healthy recipes with Ozturk’s perspective on addressing the lack of healthy dining options.

The menu will feature six items made with whole-food, organic ingredients, each available as either a bowl or a wrap. Guests can choose from three vegetarian options, along with chicken, smoked salmon and steak.

“Each menu item is very, very different. We tried to bring in a bunch of flavors that we enjoy eating in the morning. We want to serve food that people would choose first because it tastes really great,” Gadam said.

Sourced will also serve freshly squeezed orange juice, canned coffee and coconut water.

The space is designed as a fast-casual spot, though bar seating will be available for guests who choose to dine in.

The interior features a color palette of burgundy, terracotta, cream, espresso brown and touches of sage green, complemented by natural stone and layered textures inspired by Mediterranean and Spanish architecture.

“We intentionally designed the space to feel very warm, calming and inviting. We wanted to make sure the design was timeless, just a relaxing space to start your mornings,” Ozturk told Whatnow New York City.

The duo looks forward to joining the West Village community.

“I think it’s a place that fits naturally into everyone’s daily routines. It’s a beautiful neighborhood where people are able to walk everywhere and have their favorite coffee shop, wine bar and lunch spot, and we hope Sourced can become part of that rhythm,” Ozturk said.

While Ozturk and Gadam are focused on opening the West Village location, they hinted at future expansion to bring healthy eating to more communities.

“We really believe there is a gap in the market when it comes to fast-casual healthy breakfast. We’re starting with New York, but I think it does apply across the whole country. Having the privilege of reimagining what American breakfast looks like, and the responsibility of executing it, is really powerful and exciting,” Ozturk said.

Sourced Kitchen is targeting an October opening. Once open, the eatery plans to operate four weekdays and one weekend day before expanding to seven days a week.
