Atla, located at 372 Lafayette Street in New York, is preparing to close. The casual all-day Mexican restaurant will serve its final meal on May 31. In a social media post, the restaurant operators shared the closure news and also announced plans to transform the space into a new concept.
NoHo’s Beloved Atla Announces May Closure
A NoHo neighborhood favorite, Atla is well-known for its casual, modern take on traditional Mexican flavors.
The restaurant is operated by award-winning Chef Enrique Olvera. It offers a relaxed dining experience during the day, while in the evening the restaurant transforms into a lively bar. The design of the space features cozy patios inspired by the old Acapulco, with simple details and a long terrazzo bar for quick meals or drinks.
In an Instagram post, the restaurant shared the closure news and said, “After nearly a decade in NoHo, the time has come to reinvent ourselves. Atla will be closing its doors on Sunday, May 31st.”
The team hopes to celebrate the final chapter with its fans and encourages the New York dining community to visit. “Before we say goodbye, we want to celebrate with weekly specials featuring some of our greatest hits—including our beloved lobster burrito and aguachile negro,” added the team.
A New Restaurant Coming to the Same Space This Fall
Along with the closure announcement, the restaurant team also announced its plans for the future.
The team said, “A new concept from Enrique Olvera and Alonso de Garay will debut in the space this fall; more details are soon to come.”

Alonso de Garay is a famous architect and is also part of the Casamata hospitality group. Apart from ATLA, Chef Olvera and Alonso de Garay’s team also worked on other restaurant concepts. Other notable restaurants include Cosme in Flatiron, NYC; Pujol in Mexico City; and Damian in Los Angeles.
In 2024, Chef Olvera was recognized by the Michelin Guide Mexico for mentoring and supporting young chefs, including former Atla partner Daniela Soto-Innes. In 2025, Olvera also earned The Best Chef Award for his flagship restaurant, Pujol.
Following the Atla’s closure news, several fans expressed their disappointment on social media. “We are going to miss you, so many good meals and memories in that space! Can’t wait to see what’s next,” wrote one fan.
Even though Atla will be bidding farewell to the NoHo community this May, an upcoming concept will transform the same spot soon.
