Chef Eyal Shani and his restaurant group Good People Group have signed an agreement with New York-based real estate development firm Naftali Group to bring a new restaurant to Williamsburg. The 4,000-square-foot restaurant is expected to go in on the ground floor of the 3.75-acre development Williamsburg Wharf, according to a release.

Williamsburg Wharf, located at 470 Kent Avenue, is currently under construction. Once completed, it will feature 950 residences across five residential towers in addition to retail space. Phase one is expected to deliver this year, with plans for retail tenants to begin moving in later in 2025.

“Welcoming Eyal Shani, the amazing chef behind great restaurants such as Port Sa’id, Michelin-starred Shmoné, HaSalon, Miznon, and Malka, will further enrich the retail and cultural experience for both residents and visitors and is an exciting moment for our firm and this project,” Miki Naftali, chairman and CEO of the Naftali Group, said in a release. “This partnership is focused on building a space where people can come together, connect and enjoy not only great food but also a creative atmosphere that reflects the vibrant energy of Williamsburg. We are proud to have Good People Group as our tenant at Williamsburg Wharf, and we are confident that under Chef Eyal Shani’s leadership, the restaurant will offer a unique and inspired culinary experience for everyone who visits.”

Good People Group, helmed by Shani and Shahar Segal, launched in 2008 and now operates more than 40 restaurants around the world. They are also behind Shmoné, Malka and Miznon, which all have locations in New York. The restaurant at Williamsburg Wharf, whose name is yet to be announced, will highlight Shani’s culinary experience and philosophy, according to the release.

“Along the city’s most mesmerizing waterfront, we are excited to join the Naftali Group in shaping something extraordinary,” Shani said in the release. “As we expand in New York, we are thrilled to welcome guests into this new home.”
