Empire Cake, a beloved New York cake-making institution, is developing a storefront in Greenwich Village.

According to a photo posted on Instagram page @newopeningsnyc, a sign on the door of 450 6th Ave describes the location as “The future home of Empire Cake” and notes plans to open in fall of 2024.

Co-owned by Eric Setliff and Jim Genovese, Empire Cake serves cakes, cupcakes, cookies, breakfast pastries, brownies and bars, and signature takes on “twinkies,” “snowballs” and Swiss rolls. In their current location at 8th Avenue and 15th Street, Empire Cake also serves coffee from Stumptown and organic whole leaf teas from Two Leaves and A Bud.

Setliff did not immediately respond to What Now NY’s request for a comment.

Based on the business’ details on Google, the current Empire Cake location on 8th Avenue remains open. There is no indication as to whether this will be a relocation of the original bakery or the second location for the brand.

Keep up to date with Empire Cake’s latest updates on their Instagram and Facebook pages.
