A new gastropub is adding a historic twist to Hell’s Kitchen.
The Tenth Line, co-owned by Eamon Donnelly and Aoife Canny, will debut at 639 10th Ave. in the Scruffy Duffy’s space, according to an application filed with Manhattan Community Board 4.
The name pays homage to Hell’s Kitchen in the 1800s, when freight and rail lines ran along Manhattan’s West Side.
“We love where the bar is located. We love the history of the area,” Canny said at the community board meeting on Oct. 13.
The duo bring industry experience operating nearby Beer Authority on W. 40th St.
The Tenth Line plans to serve elevated pub fare, including shareable plates, salads, twice-fried jumbo wings, handhelds, entrees and artisan pizzettes, or personal-sized pizzas.
Standouts include the “Irish Nachos,” topped with beer cheese, bacon lardons, pickled jalapenos and scallions over kettle chips; the grilled chicken “Dirty Bird” sandwich, featuring Cajun spices, applewood bacon, sauteed mushrooms and onions, cheddar and chipotle aioli; and the spicy soppressata pizzette, topped with hot honey, mozzarella and pickled chilis.
The team is currently working through the permitting and licensing process.
Once open, The Tenth Line plans to operate daily from 12am to 4pm.
Stay tuned!
