A Miami-born boutique fitness studio is bringing its signature “hot Pilates with hotter results” workouts to New York.
BODY Hot Pilates, founded by Lyndsey Meade and her husband and business partner, Chris Meade, will open at 62 Crosby St. in SoHo, taking over the former Orangetheory space.
“We’re 18 months into business and it’s just booming right now,” Chris told Whatnow New York.
The East Coast natives spent a decade in Miami, where they opened studios in Aventura, Sarasota, Coral Gables and Midtown. Now, the duo is bringing BODY Hot Pilates to the Big Apple to reach an even wider audience.
“It’s a super sick spot. Hot Pilates is starting to open everywhere, and we see a deep concentration in the Chelsea and Flatiron markets. There isn’t a lot down in the SoHo and Tribeca area, so we thought it served the population,” he said.
The SoHo studio will mark the brand’s fifth location and largest to date, accommodating up to 35 guests per class. Its interior will blend Miami charm with New York flair.
With the additional room, the duo plans to host partnerships with local brands and create a welcoming space for the community.
“We are building, in this location specifically, a separate lobby. There will be an area for members to congregate and actually build community and meet your new best friend. As busy as the city is, it can be lonely. Making one or two friends could change your entire outcome of living in New York,” Chris said.
BODY Hot Pilates offers 50-minute classes featuring intentional, high-repetition, low-impact movements, resistance training and infrared heat. Its lineup includes hot Pilates, sculpt, arms and abs, and abs and buns classes, with options for all fitness levels.
For first-timers, Chris encourages guests to be in tune and listen to their body.
“We see people of different body shapes and athletic abilities. The workout is for you, so listen to yourself. If you need to drop the weights, if you need to slow down, nobody is judging you. It’s not a competition,” he said.
Lyndsey, a former collegiate soccer player, stepped away from the sport after sustaining concussions. Determined to stay active, she discovered Pilates during rehabilitation, sparking the idea for BODY Hot Pilates.
“It’s really, really inspiring to see her living her dreams and now signing all these locations. This is her passion on full display, and it’s been resonating with thousands of girls and guys a week,” he said.
The SoHo studio is slated to open in early December, but the expansion won’t stop there. The duo plans to open another location at 71 Smith St. in Downtown Brooklyn in mid-December, with additional openings planned for the first and second quarters of 2027.
