A local favorite Mexican spot, Tacos El Cabezon has served its last meal to the Downtown Fresno community. The restaurant was well-known for serving authentic Mexican street-style food items.
Tacos El Cabezon Says Goodbye to Downtown Fresno
Founded by Armando Arias Jr., Tacos El Cabezon was a popular family-owned taqueria. The brick-and-mortar location opened at 1234 Fulton Street in March 2026. The owner announced the closure on social media September 22.
The owner wrote, “After a lot of prayer, thought, and consideration, I’ve made the difficult decision to permanently close our Downtown Fresno restaurant.”
The owner thanked the community for supporting the restaurant and giving the restaurant an opportunity to be part of Downtown Fresno.
“I know this may be hard for some of our loyal customers, and honestly, it’s hard for us too. But this is only a temporary goodbye,” continued the post.

Tacos El Cabezon Plans to Return as a Food Truck
Tacos El Cabezon began as a food truck in 2025, operating near Shaw and Maroa avenues. In 2026, it transitioned into a restaurant, according to The Fresno Bee news report. The news report also stated that the restaurant has been going through major ups and downs in the last year.
In the post, the owner wrote, “From starting with a food trailer, growing beyond our expectations, opening a restaurant, facing challenges, and continuing to push forward — God has brought us a long way.”
However, with an optimistic tone, the taco restaurant also announced that it recently purchased a new food trailer and is “excited to get back to roots.”
The owner assured that the food truck would serve the community with “the same delicious tacos, the same passion, and the same love.”
While the restaurant chapter of Tacos El Cabezon is closing, the brand plans to return soon with its food truck concept.
