Mong Dynasty will be close permanently after its final service this weekend. The Chinese restaurant is closing after more than three decades in business. The announcement surprised some local customers, who wished the owners well.
Mong Dynasty is Closing Permanently This Weekend
A Fayetteville favorite is bidding farewell to the community, leaving behind a gap in its culinary landscape. Mong Dynasty will be closing its doors permanently after its final service on May 30, 2026. The restaurant is owned by Mrs. Feng, who is retiring.
According to a February 2026 report by Fayetteville Flyer, the Fayetteville Planning Commission has approved a 4,468-square-foot Armor Bank branch in the location. The project will require demolition of Mong Dynasty and the adjacent Play It Again Sports. The new branch is another reason behind the closure of the beloved restaurant.

Mong Dynasty has been one of Fayetteville’s longest-running Chinese restaurants. Its iconic Buddha statue became a symbol recognized by generations of patrons. It was also known for its extensive menu, including egg rolls, house special fried rice, and Szechuan chicken.
Mrs. Feng’s grandson plans to open a new restaurant under a different concept. The wooden Buddha statue will also return to the new location. Meanwhile, the news of the closure is met with patrons wishing the owner a happy retirement.
One Facebook user wrote, “So sad to see y’all go, but enjoy retirement. Thank you for the years of delicious food and wonderful service!!”
Another Facebook user wrote, “Thank you for your dedicated service to our community. I started going to your establishment many years ago. I introduced my girls to your awesome place to eat. Although I am very sad, I am happy for you guys. I hope you enjoy your retirement. I can’t wait for the new concept to come to life.”
Mong Dynasty is preparing to serve its final meals this weekend while leaving behind a gap in the community. But as Mrs. Feng’s retirement begins, loyal patrons are looking forward to seeing the family’s legacy continue.
