Chrusciki Bakery, known for its Polish pastries, cakes, and baked goods, will close its doors this weekend. After 40 years in Buffalo and several expansion efforts, the final day of retail at the bakery will be May 31, 2026.
Chrusciki Bakery to Close Permanently
Chrusciki Bakery, located at 6461 Transit Rd, Suite 2 in Lancaster, announced its closure on social media. The bakery team wrote, “After 40 incredible years, a new chapter begins.” The post did not share details about future plans.
The bakery’s official website shows that online orders are temporarily unavailable due to a site refresh.
For four decades, Chrusciki Bakery has been a go-to spot for locals. Customers turned to the bakery for birthdays, weddings, holidays, and family celebrations. The team expressed gratitude for every customer, employee, friend, and family member who visited the bakery. They thanked all who supported it throughout the years.
They described the closure as bittersweet, marking both an ending and a new beginning. The bakery team has invited customers one last time as they prepare to close. Free swag kits will also be offered to guests as a parting gesture.
The announcement received mixed reactions from customers. Some are concerned about their existing orders, while others are sad about the loss of a longstanding brand. One of the customers commented, “I’ll miss your amazing macarons and almond rings!” Another customer asked, “Will you be selling wholesale?”
Years of Expansion, Closures, and Rising Costs
Chrusciki Bakery was founded in 1987 and is visited for its teas, small, sweet appetizers, dry case, cold case, tarts, cheesecakes, brews, and more. The bakery also offered a corporate catering menu.
The closure follows several operational changes over recent years. An old report by WKBW cites the journey of the brand. The report mentions that the bakery spent 33 years at Buffalo’s Broadway Market. It became one of the most popular destinations for holiday treats.
Broadway Market presence ended in June 2020 due to declining foot traffic. Then, the bakery expanded with a Lancaster location and new cafe concept.
A report by The Business Journal states Chrusciki launched two restaurant concepts, Sto Lat Bar & Restaurant and the European Lounge, at Eastern Hills Mall. In May 2024, owner Ania Duchon closed the Lancaster location due to rising costs. The bakery then moved into the Transit Road site.
The report also states that both Eastern Hills Mall restaurant concepts closed in August 2025.
The upcoming closure of Chrusciki Bakery marks the end of a long-running Buffalo-area business. The bakery did not specify a reason for the closure. Patrons await what will unfold in the brand’s next chapter.
