Distillery brands continue to face headwinds amid tariffs and declining alcohol consumption. SVG 26 LLC, the operating entity behind New York-based Alton Distillery, is the latest to file for bankruptcy.
The company, known for its whiskey and vodka products, previously filed for Chapter 11 in September 2025.
SVG 26 LLC Enters Bankruptcy Yet Again
Distilleries across the country are facing challenges as alcohol consumption reaches a 90-year low, particularly among Gen Z, according to Forbes. Rising tariffs are adding to the troubles of distillers and pushing them towards bankruptcy filing, just like SVG 26 LLC.
The latest case filings for RK Consultants indicate that the debtor filed voluntarily on April 15, 2026. The filing follows the dismissal of its previous bankruptcy case in February 2026, as the company seeks to reorganize its finances.
A Lookback Into the 2025 Filing
The debtor had previously attempted to proceed with a Chapter 11 petition last year on September 25.
With below 50 creditors in total, it had listed between $1,000,001 and $10 million in both the estimated assets and liabilities ranges. Operating as Alton Distillery since 2010, the company aimed to restructure its finances through the process.
Latest Case Details
As of now, attorney Solomo Rosengarten is representing SVG 26 LLC. Israel Waeschal, the authorized representative, signed the petition before it was submitted to the court.

Current Operational Status

Alton Distillery has been producing a range of whiskeys and vodkas for nearly 16 years by sourcing local ingredients and using traditional production methods. Located close to the well-known site of the Woodstock Music Festival, it is associated with the area’s cultural legacy. The company’s website notes that its tasting room in Bethel, New York, in the Catskills, is temporarily closed.
Besides this, the debtor has been operating other related ventures, including its restaurant, Rain Dogs R & G. The restaurant is currently not operational due to renovations.
The repeat bankruptcy filing demonstrates that SVG 26 LLC is seeking a viable path to reorganize so that it can not only stabilize its finances but also revive the distillery’s paused ventures.
