Bar nineteen48 is preparing to debut at Balboa Bay Resort in Newport Beach as part of the resort’s 2026 renovation. The new bar and lounge is positioned overlooking the resort’s pool and is designed as an intimate addition to the property.

According to Balboa Bay Resort, Bar nineteen48 takes its name from 1948, the year associated with the original opening of the Balboa Bay Club. The concept draws on the resort’s history and Newport Beach’s earlier coastal era while introducing a new lounge setting.

The bar’s menu focuses on cocktails and food service. Signature drinks include the Mai Tai, prepared with Brugal 1888 Rum, pineapple, lime, house-made orgeat, dry curaçao, and Demerara, as well as a Margarita and Martini.

Food service will be scheduled from 5 to 10 p.m., while beverage service will run from 5 p.m. to midnight Thursday through Sunday. Live entertainment is scheduled from 7 to 11 p.m. on those evenings.

Balboa Bay Resort describes the space as a lounge with mid-century-inspired design elements, including warm materials, plush furnishings, and brass and bronze details. The renovation also includes updated guestrooms and changes to the resort’s lobby.
