Boban, a highly anticipated Vietnamese fast-casual eatery, will open its first location soon, the brand told What Now OC. The cafe, which will offer boba, banh mi sandwiches, and bowls, is preparing to launch for business at 9952 Valley View St. in Cypress, according to the city’s website.
With bold flavors and a modern take on traditional Vietnamese cuisine, Boban’s menu is centered around Vietnamese baguettes and rice bowls, crafted with high-quality ingredients, house-made pickled vegetables, and an exclusive sauce. The concept will also have a variety of handcrafted beverages, including Vietnamese coffee, Thai tea, and matcha lattes.
This is the latest concept from veteran restaurateur Elaine Nguyen, whose portfolio includes Dalat Bistro, Papaya Thai, Mimosa, and Royal Restaurant & Banquet. It is backed by OneV Capital, investors of the Nobibi dessert chain, which has grown to 20 locations open or in development in just over a year, a press release states.
“Boban is more than just a restaurant—it’s a celebration of Vietnamese flavors, culture, and innovation. We’re excited to share our passion with the Cypress community and beyond,” Nguyen told the publication.
The Cypress location is one of several corporate-owned affiliate locations launching soon across Southern California. Additional sites are scheduled to open in Garden Grove, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Rowland Heights, and Hacienda Heights, with several more in development and currently negotiating leases.
