Sumo Dog, a hot dog concept that blends the American classic with Japanese-inspired ingredients, is set to expand further in Indio, according to Desert Sun. The brand’s newest location is poised to open at The Palms shopping center, at Monroe St and Ave 42.

This will be Sumo Dog’s second location in Indio, joining its counterpart at The Canopy at Citrus, which opened there last year. The new restaurant will sit among other fast-food favorites such as Raising Cane’s and In-N-Out Burger, with easy access to the 10 freeway.

It was founded by Jeffrey Lunak, a veteran of the prestigious “Iron Chef” Morimoto’s Restaurant Group with over 18 years of experience in culinary excellence. The restaurant has made its name with pop-ups at events like the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, Comic-Con, and TwitchCon, and in sports venues like Yankee Stadium, SoFi Stadium, and AT&T Stadium.

Most recently, the brand opened Palm Desert and Snowmass/Aspen locations. Its website states that a Seattle location is coming this year, although it does not list an address or timeframe.
