Something new and mysterious is making its way to Lancaster County. Steve Cabalar, the owner and founder of Cabalar Meat Company has purchased 659 First Street, with plans to open a new restaurant in the location, reports local media outlet Lancaster Online.
The property formerly housed Jethro’s Restaurant, until the establishment went out of business in March of 2020. The pandemic shut down the beloved restaurant which had been open since 1978.
Cabalar has not provided any concrete details of his plans for the location. However, he has stated that the spot will not become another Cabalar Meat Company facility.
Cabalar’s plans are in the earliest conceptual stage. He has neither a timeline nor a specific intention established for the building. However, he has been clear that he plans to turn the facility into a restaurant he hopes will help rejuvenate the neighborhood.
Cabalar and his wife, Lianne, launched Cabalar Meat Co. in 2018. The company quickly developed a devoted following owing to its freshly butchered meats and carefully prepared menu items.
