Ocean County residents looking for fresh Mexican food on the go will soon have an efficient and delicious way to feed their hunger. Toms River will be opening a second Chipotle, hopefully by the end of the year, reports local media outlet, WPST.

New Jersey’s newest storefront of the popular chain is currently under construction at the intersection of Route 37 and Washington Street. An official opening date is not currently available, but the workers performing construction on the site are optimistic it will be opening before the end of 2023.

Toms River’s latest Chipotle has been in the works since April of 2022, when the Planning Board approved the development of the restaurant. The 2,325 square foot eatery will feature a drive-thru and indoor seating for up to 65 customers.

Chipotle’s fast-casual approach to made-to-order Mexican favorites has garnered a massive fan-following since the establishment opened its first restaurant in Colorado in 1993. Today, Chipotle has 3,200 locations worldwide, 87 of which are in the Garden State.

Chipotle allows customers to curate their meals, selecting burritos, bowls, quesadillas, salads, and tacos. Guests choose their protein, rice, beans, and vegetables, creating their platonic American-Mexican dish ideal.
