A popular Lancaster bakery is relocating to Philadelphia.
Edd’s & Flo’s Artisan Bakery Cafe, co-owned by Meghan Young and Sebastian Schuck, will open in Fishtown next year. The cafe will close its current location Sunday, Sept. 20, after five years in operation.
“Though this chapter is coming to a close, this won’t be the end of our story. We’re moving to Philly, and we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to figure out how to bring the bakery with us,” Young shared in a social media announcement.
The location has not yet been announced, as the duo is still working to finalize a lease. They have secured a letter of intent, an initial agreement outlining plans for the space.
Edd’s & Flo’s launched in 2021 as “Wish You Well Bakery” before rebranding in April 2024.
The shop specializes in scratch-made croissants, pastries and cookies, along with a selection of savory offerings. Options include “Quiche Lorraine” with Breakaway Farms bacon, Gouda, Gruyère and caramelized onion; “Big Shakshuka Bialy” with stewed tomatoes, onions, peppers, spices and a local egg; and “Rosemary Sea Salt Focaccia” made with slow-fermented bialy dough, olive oil, rosemary and flaky salt.
The relocation will mark a homecoming for Young, who came to Philadelphia to study advertising at Temple University before earning an associate degree in baking and pastry arts from The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College.
Young built her experience working with some of Philadelphia’s most established cafe owners, including Green Line Cafe and One Shot Cafe, as well as acclaimed bakers at High Street Hospitality, pastry chefs at Essen Bakery and Defined Hospitality, and restaurateurs at Safran Turney Hospitality.
“I’m ready to go back to the city I fell in love with half my life ago and share what I’ve learned since I left,” she said.
The duo plans to move to Philadelphia in October and hopes to reopen the bakery by spring 2027.
