The machines are coming to South Philadelphia, and they’re bringing delicious craft beer with them. Human Robot Brewing is planning to open a taproom, called Human Robot Sud, at 1646-1648 South 12th Street, reports The Philadelphia Business Journal.

The South Philly taproom will occupy 2,000 square-feet in the space which formerly housed the Separatist Beer Project. The location will allow Human Robot Brewing to accommodate approximately 70 guests. Additionally, the taproom intends to offer outdoor seating for up to 12 visitors.

Human Robot, which is headquartered in Kensington, hopes the Passyunk taproom will help deepen public awareness of its brand. Co-owner and co-founder Jake Atkinson explains the move, stating “There’s people in South Philly that don’t even know we exist. We have to physically be there in order for people to know that we exist. And South Philly and Kensington, that might as well be different ends of the world to a Philadelphian. So, it’s just good to get over there.”

While a precise timeline is not available for the opening of Human Robot’s fourth and latest taproom, Atkinson and his partners anticipate greeting customers relatively soon. The brewery signed the space’s lease on October 1, however the location doesn’t require too much renovation since the building already housed a brewery, .

Atkinson states “This place is fully built out, we just kind of have to make it our own.” Once Human Robot paints, installs furniture and sets up the draft system, the taproom will be ready to open its doors.

The brewery will not be producing beer at Human Robot Sud, however all of the brand’s offerings will be available at the taproom. The new location also intends to serve wine and canned cocktails.

Human Robot began life in 2020. The brewery is the joint project of Atkinson, Andrew Foss, Ken Correll, and Andrew Foss. In addition to its Kensington home base, the brewery has taprooms in Jenkintown and the Schuylkill Banks.
