A popular Maryland-based pub is expanding its footprint in the greater Philadelphia area.

MaGerk’s Pub & Grill, co-founded by Philadelphia natives John and Paul Dolaway, is set to open at 3 W. Gay St. in the former Iron Hill Brewery space in West Chester, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.

MaGerk’s is known for its elevated bar fare, offering shareable plates like tempura pickles and soft pretzels alongside handhelds, smash burgers, wings, nachos, salads and bowls. The pub also takes pride in its authentic Philly cheesesteaks, made with bakery-fresh rolls and 100% ribeye steak.

To pair with the menu, the pub offers a selection of local craft beers and its signature orange crushes.

The pub traces its roots to Baltimore’s Federal Hill neighborhood. Its name, MaGerk’s, was inspired by John’s three daughters, combining the initials of their first and middle names. The concept quickly became a popular gathering spot for young professionals and post-college crowds, helping fuel its expansion into multiple markets.

MaGerk’s now operates Pennsylvania locations in Fort Washington, Horsham, Lionville, Royersford and Langhorne, along with a larger Maryland outpost in Bel Air and a North Carolina location in Elon. The Elon restaurant came about after the Dolaways spotted an opportunity in a recently vacated corner building while helping one of their daughters move into Elon University. The town’s small-town atmosphere made it a natural fit for the brand.

Each location features numerous TVs for watching every big game, along with decor filled with local memorabilia.

The new West Chester restaurant marks another step in MaGerk’s continued expansion across the greater Philadelphia region, with another location also planned in Wyomissing.

While an official opening date has not been announced, landlord John Barry told the outlet the restaurant is likely still months away from debuting as the team continues gutting and renovating the space.
