Cornish Pasty Co., a beloved British-inspired gastropub with eight locations in Phoenix, is getting ready to open a new location in Glendale at 5747 W Glendale Ave.
The company’s 11th overall location is set to replace Gas Light Inn and Gaslight Cafe, according to a recently approved liquor license application. Customers can expect a cozy, pub-style atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating options. The downtown location features an upstairs area with pool tables and a dartboard. The Glendale site is expected to open in early 2025, while another location is scheduled to open later this year in Tucson, at 72 E. Congress Street, although exact opening dates are unknown.
“Bringing the Cornish Pasty brand to downtown Glendale marks another exciting phase in our community’s growth,” Daniel Sabillon, Deputy Director of Downtown Redevelopment, said in a press release. “This new addition serves as a catalyst for the continued revitalization of the downtown area, attracting locals and visitors alike.”
Cornish Pasty Co. offers over 40 types of pasties, including traditional options like the Oggie (steak, potato, and rutabaga) and variations such as Cajun chicken, Greek veggie, and Thanksgiving-themed pasties. The menu also includes desserts like sticky toffee pudding and peanut butter and jelly pasties. The drink menu features local craft beers, ciders, and British ales. When the new Glendale location opens later this year, customers can expect these same delicious pasties and drinks.
“We are excited to be part of the Downtown Glendale community and look forward to sharing our passion for pasties and a good brew with you all,” Dean Thomas, owner of Cornish Pasty, said in a press release. “Our menu will feature over 40 different pasty creations, all made from scratch, along with homemade soups, desserts, salads, and unique appetizers. All set in a non-pretentious British pub atmosphere.”
