Katsuya is officially heading to Arizona. According to a recent announcement, the acclaimed modern Japanese restaurant will open its first location in the state at the Kimpton Miralina Resort & Villas Paradise Valley as part of the property’s ongoing $70 million transformation.
Scheduled to debut in early 2027, the restaurant will anchor the resort’s new luxury enclave and bring the brand’s signature approach to contemporary Japanese cuisine to Paradise Valley.
The concept helped redefine modern Japanese dining by blending traditional techniques with California influences. Today, Katsuya is known for dishes such as Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna, premium sushi and sashimi, robata-grilled specialties, handcrafted cocktails, and its signature Burning Mandarin cocktail.
“Katsuya has always thrived in destinations that bring together exceptional design, culture, and hospitality,” Sam Nazarian, founder and CEO of sbe, said in the announcement. “Miralina’s vision for a modern desert resort created the perfect opportunity to introduce the brand to Arizona.”
The restaurant will be led by SBE Culinary Director Chef Benjamin Dayag. The opening is part of the final phase of Kimpton Miralina’s redevelopment, which also includes new luxury villas, expanded event space, and The Enclave, a new hotel-within-a-hotel concept designed around contemporary Japanese-inspired accommodations and wellness experiences.
