Paladino’s Italian Eatery, a family-owned restaurant known for its Chicago-style comfort food, is expanding in the East Valley.

According to a recent liquor license application, the company plans to open a new outpost at 2711 S Alma School Rd. in Mesa. The restaurant would mark the company’s second Arizona location following its original Apache Junction eatery.

The company told Whatnow Phoenix it is targeting a June opening, though an official opening date has not yet been confirmed.

Paladino’s Italian Eatery was founded as an extension of Dino’s Italian Deli, the Apache Junction business opened by Bob Paladino more than a decade ago.

Today, the restaurant is led by owner and CEO Rick Slayton, Bob’s son-in-law and a Chicago native, who expanded the concept to include classic Chicago-style dishes like Italian beef sandwiches, pizzas, and pasta dishes.

The menu features pizzas, sandwiches, pasta dishes, and other classic comfort food staples.

Signature items include Chicago-style Italian beef sandwiches, chicken parmesan, ravioli, and specialty pizzas like the “Papa’s Meatlover,” topped with sausage, Italian beef, and pepperoni, and “The Paladino,” made with roasted red peppers, spicy Italian sausage, and mushrooms.

Whatnow Phoenix reached out to Paladino’s Italian Eatery for additional information, and this article may be updated.
