A Portland-based teahouse company is closing its last remaining physical store. Tea Bar will shut the doors of the Pearl District outlet after 10 years of business. While the storefront is closing, the company will continue to operate its online business.
Tea Bar to Shut Down Final Storefront
Portland-based Tea Bar is a modern, minimalist tea company that solely focuses on serving high-quality and sustainable tea products. Erica Indira Swanson founded Tea Bar in 2014 at age 23.
She was also featured in Forbes 30-under-30 for establishing Tea Bar. The company previously operated four locations in Oregon.
In a social media announcement, Erica said Tea Bar will close its last remaining Portland storefront. The closure follows her decision not to renew the lease.
“After 10 beautiful years in the Pearl, our lease is coming to an end, and we have decided not to renew,” stated Erica.
Tea Bar, located at 1055 NW Northrup Street in Portland, will shut down this week. The owner thanked the community and customers for their support.
The owner wrote, “Thank you for being part of this journey and for making these 10 years so beautiful.”

Tea Bar to Continue Online Operations
While the Pearl District storefront is closing, Tea Bar’s online store will remain open.
“Our website will remain live, so you can continue to enjoy Tea Bar at home anytime,” Swanson said. She also added that the company will focus on expanding Tea Bar through wholesale, events, and franchising.
IIn the post, Swanson encouraged customers to visit Tea Bar before the storefront closes, “Before we close our doors this week, we would love for you to come visit us and drink your favorite tea.”
Even though the final outlet of Tea Bar is wrapping up its business, the Portland community can still enjoy and purchase their favorite tea from its website.
