A new modern Italian restaurant is coming to Rancho Cordova this fall.
Sergio Mirabelli—founder of ESM Restaurant Group and a native of Florence, Italy—plans to transform the former China Star Buffet at 2204 Sunrise Blvd into Crazee For Pasta, a contemporary Italian eatery. The 5,500-square-foot standalone building is situated in Sunriver Village, a shopping center near Gold River.
According to the Sacramento Business Journal, the menu at the new restaurant will be reminiscent of Mirabelli’s Fair Oaks eatery, Caffe Italiano Ristorante. Expect modernized versions of Italian classics, such as antipasti, pasta, risotto, pizza, and a range of chicken and fish entrées, plus a variety of gluten-free options.
The restaurant will feature a full bar, a banquet room for private gatherings, and a split kitchen designed to separately prepare gluten-free dishes.
Mirabelli told What Now Sacramento that renovations should begin soon, with construction expected to take about three months once permits are secured. He’s aiming for a September 2025 opening.
Once it debuts, Crazee For Pasta will join a growing portfolio of ESM Restaurant Group concepts. In addition to the already-established Caffe Italiano, the team is developing La Cantera Rosa in Fair Oaks and Florian Cafe and Deli inside Roseville’s Westfield Galleria.
