The Chattanooga return comes as Toys “R” Us recently announced plans to open 120 new stores across the U.S. in time for the holiday shopping season. The national expansion will significantly increase the retailer’s standalone store presence, according to the company’s announcement reported by People.
According to the Local 3 News Facebook post, the new Chattanooga location is already underway, with the retailer expected to return to Hamilton Place during the holiday season. The post also noted that Toys “R” Us has announced its broader rollout of 120 new U.S. stores.
The comeback marks a notable return for a retailer that disappeared from American shopping centers nearly a decade ago. Toys “R” Us filed for bankruptcy in 2017 and ultimately closed its U.S. stores in 2018. The company has since rebuilt its American presence through new standalone stores and smaller-format locations, with the latest expansion representing its largest U.S. store rollout since its bankruptcy.
The retailer’s new stores are expected to feature a broad selection of toys and games from major brands, including LEGO, Barbie and Pokémon. Some locations will also incorporate additional experiences designed to make the stores more than traditional toy-shopping destinations.
