Republic Wine Castle is coming to Johnson City! The new Greater Houston region winery comes from the great minds behind the Republic Boot Company and is slated to open at 101 Durango this Spring, according to Culture Map San Antonio.
At the helm of the opening is the CEO and Founder of Republic Boot Company, Chris Conrad. What Now San Antonio briefly spoke with Conrad, who confirmed the opening but was unable to share further details by the time of this publication.
“The wine side of Republic Boot Co. blends Texas craftsmanship with a refined tasting experience, creating a space where heritage, hospitality, and flavor meet. Designed as a natural extension of the brand’s Western roots, the wine program emphasizes bold character, regional pride, and approachable sophistication,” the Republic Wine Castle website reads.
“Guests can explore a thoughtfully curated selection of wines that highlights robust reds, balanced whites, and distinctive small-batch offerings chosen to pair well with the relaxed, boot-and-leather atmosphere of the store. The experience is intentionally unpretentious — welcoming both seasoned wine enthusiasts and casual sippers — with knowledgeable staff guiding tastings and recommendations.”
Built in 2019, the castle where the wine venue will open lives on a 12-acre estate. Though most of the castle’s regal feel is said to remain intact, customers can expect the same ranch-chic feel you’d experience at a Republic Boot Company store.
“Founded with a unique vision, Republic blends the precision and efficiency of ready-made boots with the quality, character, and soul of custom craftsmanship. Our Houston bootshop delivers an immersive experience where visitors can watch custom boots being handcrafted while browsing our collection of ready-made boots and other finely made leather goods. For a taste of the experience, check out our YouTube channel,” The Republic Boot Company website reads.
“Thanks to our deep bench of master bootmakers, we offer truly custom boots under a year, without sacrificing quality. Our ready-made boots are built using the same techniques and standards as our custom line, with production managed to maintain consistency and affordability. Every pair is finished, modified, resoled, and quality-checked in our Houston shop. We are master bootmakers, and we stand behind every boot for life.”
Conrad opened the Republic Boot Company in 2011. The headquarters is based in Houston on E. 11th Street. The Johnson City Republic Wine Castle will serve as both a winery and a new location to purchase their iconic boots.
