A longtime favorite ramen shop in San Antonio is preparing to shutter. After 16 years of service, Suck It confirmed its closure by the end of 2026. The restaurant owner shared the closure announcement and thanked the community for their support.
Suck It Announces End-of-Year Closure
The restaurant began its journey as Suck It hookah and bubble tea lounge in July 2010. The chef-owner, Vinh Hoang, established the restaurant in the heart of the South Texas Medical Center in San Antonio in 2016.
Following the opening of the restaurant, Suck It also made its debut in St. Paul Square downtown in 2022. In 2024, Suck It Asian and Boba opened in collaboration with Sari Sari Filipino Restaurant off Highway 151 near Alamo Ranch. It is one of the latest location of the chain, according to a MYSA report.
The restaurant became popular for its traditional ramen, pho, bubble tea, and other Asian-American staple dishes.
Through a social media announcement, the restaurant owner shared the closure news. The owner stated that Suck It: The Restaurant, located at 7220 Louis Pasteur Dr #125 in San Antonio, Texas, will permanently shut down on December 31, 2026.
The owner assured the customers that this is not a permanent goodbye to the San Antonio neighborhood. The owner wrote, “Don’t worry though, I met a lot of talented chefs in San Antonio and Austin that wouldn’t mind me doing a ramen pop-up at their restaurant.”
Chef Vinh thanked the community for their support and said, “It’s been a long and wonderful 16 years, and when I come back, I’ll tell y’all all about it. Suck It, San Antonio!”

Reason Behind the Closure
In the official closure announcement, the owner mentioned that due to health issues and lots of ups and downs, the restaurant is shutting down.
The owner also mentioned, “With the current economy, rising prices, my family, and my health, I have decided with a heavy heart to close @suckittherestaurant at the end of the year.”
In the post, the owner shared plans to “concentrate on my family and my health.”
The San Antonio community can still visit and enjoy their favorite dishes at the restaurant before its closure. The closure of Suck It Restaurant will mark the end of the legacy of Asian fusion dining in the community.
