A new locally owned wine bar and bottle shop is preparing to join the New Braunfels hospitality scene, according to Community Impact.
Wine Folks is set to open at 967 N. Academy Ave. in New Braunfels, with husband-and-wife duo Danielle and Jason Grantham behind the concept. Danielle Grantham said the team is aiming for a June opening; however, it is yet to be confirmed.
The neighborhood spot will offer a mix of beer, wine, and provisions, along with a retail section featuring wine by the bottle, Texas craft beers, artisan snacks, and other curated goods. Guests can also expect a bar and lounge area serving wine by the glass, draft beer, and non-alcoholic beverage options.
While speaking to What Now San Antonio, Danielle said the inspiration behind the concept is rooted in community.
“This concept and all the work we’ve put into it have been and always will be inspired by community. We want to build something that brings people together for the best moments in life,” she told What Now San Antonio.
When describing the atmosphere guests can expect, she added that Wine Folks is designed to feel warm and welcoming.
“Wine Folks is relaxing, friendly and feels like walking into a friend’s house where you feel completely at home.”
The curated selection will include wines from around the world, Texas-grown wines, and craft beers, with a strong focus on local breweries. The shop will also offer specialty sodas, non-alcoholic beverages, snacks such as cookies, crackers and chocolates, as well as gifts including cookbooks and accessories.
“We’ve truly enjoyed meeting and tasting wine and beer from Texas growers and makers — it’s been a huge highlight meeting the people behind the craft right here in Texas,” Danielle said. “We’ve also attended multiple tasting events for worldwide selections of wines that are specially chosen by us.”
Danielle said they hope Wine Folks will become a natural gathering place for the New Braunfels community.
“Our goal is to serve the community, and Wine Folks is one way we can do that. We look forward to meeting new people and making new friends along the way!”
As a husband-and-wife team, the pair also reflected on the journey of building the business together.
“Have you ever wallpapered a bathroom with your spouse? Someone once told me that was a true relationship test!” Danielle said. “But seriously, it has been so wonderful building this business and working towards our dreams together.”
She added that the experience has been especially meaningful as a family effort.
“We complement each other very well, and while it’s very early in this journey for Wine Folks, we are trusting in God’s plan for us and feel this is going to be a huge opportunity for us to serve and make an impact in our community.”
The couple said they are excited to open and hope to announce an official date soon.
