A brand new Old World-style French bar called Bar Nice is preparing to debut next year in North Park, located at 3396 30th St.

Hospitality veteran Anthony Viveros plans to open the new concept in the former home of Aburi Sushi next summer, according to SanDiegoVille. Bar Nice will be on the ground floor of the historic Lynhurst Building, featuring classic cocktails with a “French” influence. Customers can expect Rhum Agricole Daiquiris, Quinquina Spritzes, and Armagnac Vieux Carrés, plus other classic cocktail options. Viveros also plans to offer an extensive wine list and a concise menu of traditional bistro dishes.

“Bar Nice, as in Niçoise, is a French Bar,” Viveros explains to SanDiegoVille. “We want Bar Nice to be the French bar you picture in your mind, see in movies, and read about in famous novels, even if this version of a French bar doesn’t really exist in France. We want to be the casual neighborhood bar where you meet friends for one drink and end up staying for 2+ hours.”

Viveros is no stranger to the restaurant industry, having most recently served as co-founder and director of operations for Nolita Hall in Little Italy and its parent company, Black Swan Hospitality. Before launching his own Nice Hospitality LLC, he worked with Hogsalt Hospitality at Restoration Hardware and Fox Restaurant Concepts, opening a handful of True Food Kitchen locations, including one in Fashion Valley Mall. Now, he’s preparing to open a new concept after visiting the European country.

“We love France,” continued Viveros. “It’s been a concept I have wanted to bring to life since I first visited Nice, France. While I was there, I thought to myself, ‘Why don’t we live like this in the States?’ and ‘This is nice.’ My goal with Bar Nice is to bring that experience into this space. We want to be the antidote to your typical American day.”
