Eat Crispy Burger, a San Diego burger restaurant known for smash burgers, is planning to open alongside its sister concept, Crispy Fish Tacos, in the College Area at 5120 College Avenue, Suite 125.
The new dual-concept location is expected to open in October 2026, according to SanDiegoVille. Eat Crispy Burger and Crispy Fish Tacos will share the space, giving customers the option to order from either concept at the same location. The College Avenue space most recently housed Carbonaro’s, an Italian fast-casual restaurant focused largely on customizable pasta dishes. Before Carbonaro’s, the space was occupied by Lolita’s Mexican Food.
Eat Crispy Burger was founded in Encinitas in 2022 by Angela Ablahad and Ramzy Rahib. The family-owned business has since expanded to five brick-and-mortar locations in Encinitas, Kearny Mesa, National City, La Jolla, and Oceanside, with a Temecula location also listed as coming soon. The College Area restaurant would add another location to the company’s growing San Diego County presence.
The menu at Eat Crispy Burger centers on smash burgers made with fresh, never-frozen Angus beef. Options include the Original Crispy Burger, All American Crispy Burger, and Cowboy Crispy Burger, along with crispy chicken sandwiches, salads, breakfast sandwiches, fries, onion rings, and milkshakes. The company says its burgers use grass fed beef, all natural cheese, and custom buns made without seed oils.
Crispy Fish Tacos brings a separate seafood-focused menu to the planned location. The concept offers beer-battered and grilled fish tacos, fish burritos, and seafood plates, including options made with wild Alaskan pollock. The Ablahad family has already developed the concept in the University City and La Jolla area, with the College Area project planned as another location.
