Frida’s Taqueria, a Mexican restaurant with three locations in North County, is getting ready to expand again with two new sites, including one in San Marcos.
The company, which currently has locations in Vista, Oceanside, and Escondido, is preparing to open two more locations, including one in San Marcos at 1158 West San Marcos Boulevard. The company’s fourth San Diego location is set to move into the San Marcos Boulevard Food Court at an unknown time, moving into one of the vacant spots that was the previous home to either Chick’nCone, Pokewaii, or Rubios, all of which have permanently closed in that building.
Co-owner Gracy Ayala tells What Now San Diego that this location does not have a set opening date, considering they are in the permitting process with the city of San Diego, and it’s unclear when they will receive them. The same problem applies to the company’s other upcoming location, which is coming soon to Temecula. The company has reportedly purchased The Great Burrito at the Palomar Village Shopping Center after one of the owners passed away during the pandemic. It’s unclear when the new Temecula location will open, but The Great Burrito appears open as the new owners transition to its menu. However, this has yet to be confirmed by What Now Media Group. Both new locations will feature the restaurant’s signature tacos, burritos, and more, making the taqueria one of the tastiest chain restaurants in Southern California.
“Our story was born from a family dream of opening an authentic Tijuana taco shop that would showcase our culture and the flavor that identifies us,” according to the company’s website. “The city of Escondido, California, saw us born. Now, we are also located in the city of Oceanside, California, and soon we will be arriving in [San Marcos] and [Temecula], California. In our Taqueria, you will find everything from the most popular tacos, such as Al Pastor, to a delicious baked potato with vegetables, avocado, and spicy sauce.”
