According to the San Francisco Business Times, Bay Area chef Chef Viet Nguyen is debuting a new Ben Tre Vietnamese Homestyle Cuisine restaurant location. Coming to 2650 Ocean Avenue, this will mark the eatery’s third Bay Area outpost.
“Celebrated Bay Area chef Chef Viet Nguyen is inching closer to turning a 4,500-square-foot former bank into the newest location of his original Ben Tre Vietnamese Homestyle Cuisine restaurant,” the Journal shares.
“A new liquor license application shows Nguyen is approaching readiness for the project… that’s been in the works since 2023 but not previously reported,” the article continues.
For readers who are unfamiliar with Ben Tre, the eatery offers a brief introduction on its website: “Rooted in the rich culinary heritage of Southern Vietnam’s Binh Dai district, our story is not just about food; it’s about family, tradition, and resilience. In 1993, our Vietnamese immigrant family embarked on a courageous journey to the Bay Area, seeking new opportunities and a place to call home. Settling in the historic Tenderloin district of San Francisco, we faced challenges head-on, drawing strength from our shared values and traditions.”
“At Ben Tre, we pour our hearts into crafting Vietnamese comfort cuisine that goes beyond mere sustenance—it’s a culinary odyssey embodying the warmth and love of a home-cooked feast shared with loved ones. Inspired by the lively flavors of Southern Vietnam’s Binh Dai district, each dish pays homage to our rich heritage and unwavering authenticity,” the statement continues.
