D Spot Dessert Café is giving Ontario dessert lovers five more reasons to keep an eye out, with new locations in the works across Bowmanville, North York, Sudbury, downtown Toronto and Vaughan.
All five are currently listed as ‘coming soon’ on the company’s website, adding to D Spot’s growing Ontario footprint.
The upcoming cafés include a new North York location, while D Spot already operates locations in the area, including its York Mills and Billy Bishop Way cafés. The company also has an existing Toronto location in the Stockyards.
D Spot was founded in 2014, when its first location opened in Scarborough. The brand has since expanded across Canada and says it is continuing to grow its presence nationwide.
Desserts are at the heart of the concept, with the menu featuring Belgian waffles, crepes, sundaes, milkshakes, homemade ice cream, cakes and other specialty creations. D Spot also makes its own fresh-daily batters and made-from-scratch cakes, and uses Belgian chocolate throughout its dessert menu.
The cafés aren’t strictly about sweets, either. D Spot offers savory food at its full-concept locations, and the company has recently introduced breakfast at select cafés.
The expansion comes as D Spot continues to build out its franchise operation across Canada. In June, the company announced Kaan Sayiner as its new CEO and president. Sayiner brought more than 30 years of experience in franchising and food service to the role and is overseeing the brand’s next phase of growth.
For now, D Spot has not released opening dates or addresses for the five upcoming Ontario locations.
The new cafés are currently listed as:
- Bowmanville
- North York
- Sudbury
- Toronto (Downtown)
- Vaughan
As the projects move forward, more details about the individual locations and opening timelines are expected to follow.
