Niccolo Angius, one of the owners behind Cesarina Restaurant in Loma Point, said he, his wife Cesarina Mezzoni, and their business partner, Giuseppe Capasso, likely won’t open their next venture, Angelo Pizza, until early next year.
“It’s a completely empty space we have to remodel from scratch,” Anguis said in an interview with What Now San Diego. “We’ve been working on this since before the pandemic hit.”
Going in right across the street from Cesarina in Point Loma, at 4160 Voltaire St., the owners hope the two Italian restaurants will pair well together.
“We want to keep investing in this neighborhood,” he said. “We’re right across the street from our other location and thought a new pizza restaurant would be great.”
He said that the main focus will be pizza but the restaurant will serve plenty of grilled entrees for those looking for something else.
Similar to Cesarina, where customers can watch pasta being made from scratch in the open-air pastificio, Angelo Pizza will have an open-air caseificio “dedicated to mozzarella and burrata” where patrons will be able to see the cheese for their pizzas being made.
Cesarina Restaurant is named after the establishment’s pastry chef Cesarina Mezzoni.
