If you’re a fan of Laylah’s Jamaican Restaurant, the eatery on Main St. in San Diego that offers ‘a taste of Jamaica in San Diego,” you’ll be pleased to learn the owner, Lilia Makram, appears to have a new venture in the works.

A permit application was filed under the name Awesome Jamaican Jerk & Wings for Barrio Food Hub’s address. The application indicates Awesome Jamaican Jerk & Wings will have access to a 187 square-foot space inside Barrio Logan’s new food hall.

We were unable to reach Makram at the time of publication, but if Laylah’s Jamaican Restaurant is any indication of what’s to come, you can expect dishes made with “100% authentic Jamaican flavors.”

According to Laylah’s website, the eatery, “commonly known as Laylah’s, is a Jamaican restaurant in San Diego born out of Laylah’s husband’s desire for authentic Jamaican food and her entrepreneurial spirit. Laylah learned to cook Jamaican food in Jamaica where she lived with her family for several years.”

Barrio Food Hub opened in February of this year with 23 food concepts. Lucky for you and for them, Makram is about to provide one more.
