There’s a restaurant opening soon in Virginia-Highland where Tiki Iniki once operatedIllegal Food before that — called Sea Salt Restaurant. Tiki Iniki closed its doors sometime between late-2019 and early 2020, and for a short time this year, was rebranded as Madhouse Lounge which ran out of the tiki bar space as a pop-up ahead of going permanent.

But little is known about Sea Salt Restaurant. All that currently exists in terms of a physical footprint is a recently-painted mural, as shown in the above photo captured by What Now Atlanta (WNA) reader Jena Anton over the weekend, and a parked website domain on GoDaddy that was registered last month.

There are no permit applications filed with the City of Atlanta at the 1044 Greenwood Avenue NE Address — the most recent was in 2018 for Tiki Iniki — and no articles of incorporation are on record with Georgia’s Secretary of State for the business under the Sea Salt Restaurant name. There were, however, several job adverts posted last month including one seeking a General Manager for the incoming restaurant but the listing no longer exists. “New Virginia-Highland restaurant seeks experienced General Manager,” according to a cached copy of the hiring advert. “Weekly salary plus profit sharing and bonus opportunity.” The job advert listed the same address as the building that now dons the Sea Salt mural.
