Man vs. Fries ahead of the Christmas holiday will open its first local restaurant, Eater Atlanta on Monday first reported. The delivery-only ghost kitchen is set to start slinging its fries-centric eats out of Midtown on Monday, December 21, the company’s website confirms.
Man vs. Fries will be operating out of Reef Kitchens, at 1020 Spring St. NW — which is important to note as delivery is contained within a certain radius. It’s also where Portman is planning a three-tower mixed-use. It is one of two Reef outposts in Atlanta. The second is in the 725 Ponce development.
As its name suggests, Man vs. Fries offers a menu of dishes that all start with a base of fries (straight or curly), topped with meat (carne asada or pollo asado), and served “NorCal” or “SoCal” style — that’s Northern California and Southern California, respectively. There’s also the SoCal Burrito (pictured above) and the Cali Crunch: “hella big flour tortilla, carne asada vs pollo asado, organic crunchy tostada, lettuce, tomato, cheese, cilantro, onions, guacamole, spiked ranch.”
Delivery-only restaurants more and more are becoming commonplace in Atlanta, especially as the pandemic rages on. Last week the founders of Yumbii announced plans to soon-open a takeout-only taqueria called The Queso Shop and Chef Nick Leahy, who recently converted his West Midtown eateries into a casual neighborhood restaurant, opened his Chicken Out ghost kitchen.
