Tum Pok Pok quietly opened for business Monday specializing in Thai street food, a spokesperson told What Now Atlanta Tuesday.
“Tom Pok Pok” is “named after the sound that happens when Somtum (Green Papaya Salad) is being made and the chilies are being beaten and ground in a mortar,” they said. Tum Pok Pok is owned by Adidsara Weerasin who also owns Bangkok Thyme in Sandy Springs.
Tum Pok Pok offers authentic Thai street food in a “Thai Isan family setting” with a space decorated with a bric-a-brac theme to “inspire the feeling of being in a local Thai store.”
Isan, a northeast region of Thailand along the Mekong River is known for its rich and vibrant culture where small local dishes are meant to be eaten with fingers or a spoon. “It is all about trying new things in a simple and casual way,” the spokesperson said.
Tum Pok Pok’s menu ranges from spicy papaya salad to Larb, Isan sour sausage, grilled meats, mango sticky rice, and more.
Situated at 5000 Buford Hwy NE, Tum Pok Pok is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Check out the restaurant on its website and Facebook.
