Getting a fast but healthy meal in Philly is getting easier with Fuel Healthy Kitchen’s recent expansion. Owner Rocco Cima will open his fourth Fuel Healthy Kitchen in Northeast Philadelphia in a 750 sq. ft. space at 10090 Roosevelt Blvd. and offer free lunch to the first 100 customers on March 22 when doors open at 11 a.m. Cima says he will open two more quick-service restaurants in Rittenhouse Square in the next few months. The first Fuel Health Kitchen opened in South Philly in 2008 and has two other locations in Center City and University City.

“I think people are more mindful of their wellbeing and what they’re putting into their bodies. Especially after the last few years with more people focused on their health and wellbeing. I think Fuel Healthy Kitchen is a perfect fit for that. It’s [the brand’s expansion] a natural progression,” Cima told What Now Philadelphia. “We surprised people when we showed that Philadelphia was eating healthy, even though we were land of the cheesesteaks. We were able to rapidly grow in 2009 when everyone told us healthy eating would work in Philly, and we grew into a staple.”

Fuel Healthy Kitchen, which made USA Today’s list of “best restaurants with healthy menus in Philadelphia,” serves salads, paninis, wraps, smoothies, and rice and acai bowls made from locally sourced produce with gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options.

Cima also has plans to expand his El Funky Tacos ghost kitchen concept, which was recently launched in University City to include Center City and Northeast Philly. In addition, Cima, who is also a DJ at Q102 Philly, will soon introduce a nightclub in Wynewood, Miami.
