One of Brooklyn’s favorite Italian restaurants is currently getting ready to open up their first ever expansion in Manhattan later this year.

Mama Capri is a popular Italian restaurant based out of Carroll Gardens in Brooklyn. Owned by restaurateur Francesco Amoroso, Mama Capri offers fresh Mediterranean dishes inspired by the Amalfi Coast. Francesco believes that great food is born from fresh and natural ingredients, and insists on using the finest produce available, without shortcuts. Serving everything from pasta to prosciutto, Mama Capri also offers a carefully curated wine list imported directly from wineries across the world.

Now, Francesco and his team have begun Mama Capri’s first-ever expansion, and will be bringing their Amalfi-inspired concept westwards to Manhattan. Originally operating at 247 Smith Street in Brooklyn, Mama Capri’s first expansion will be opening up in Greenwich Village at 89 Greenwich Avenue, between West 12th Street and Bank Street. Mama Capri will be replacing Nightingale, a popular bar and restaurant that closed down three years ago.

Francesco will be preserving the core identity of Mama Capri with his latest expansion, and will continue to offer guests “dishes of the most genuine Italian/Neapolitan tradition.” The location offers a total of 1,500 square feet of space on the ground floor, with an additional 900 square feet of space in the basement, which will be reserved for storage. The new space is expected to be able to seat a total of 80 guests between the interior tables and standing bar.

Francesco and his team are currently in the process of acquiring a full restaurant liquor license for the Mama Capri space. Imported wine from global wineries is one of Mama Capri’s most popular qualities, so fans will be expecting their favorite glass of red to accompany their fine pasta dishes. Francesco is currently proposing operating hours of 12:00 PM – 11:00 PM Sunday through Thursday, and 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM on Friday and Saturday.
