A self-serve beer kiosk is planned for Criterium Bicycles in Colorado Springs. The new Trails End Taproom Kiosk will have a grand opening sometime in April.
Trails End Taproom currently has two locations offering self-pour beer, cider, and wine options, and the addition of a kiosk will bring a third to Coloradoans looking for a tasty beverage.
In 2017, Trails End Taproom opened a location at 3103 W. Colorado Ave. in Colorado Springs, which offers more than 40 beers on tap. The Colorado Springs location provides maps, trail conditions, indoor bike racks, and oversized bathrooms for changing into gear. A second Trails End Taproom is located at 252 Front St. in Monument.
“We’ve always partnered with bike stores from all over the city to do demos at our location,” said Trails End Taproom owner Kevin Weese. The new Trails End Taproom Kiosk will be located at Criterium Bicycles at 6150 Corporate Dr. in Colorado Springs.
“They’re one of the best bike shops in the city and have access right next to the trail. It’s a perfect fit for what we’re trying to do,” Weese told What Now Denver. The kiosk will have six taps including a house lager, a gluten-free cider, a sour, and a couple of IPAs.
“We’ve got a new technology where you’ll get ID’d at Criterium, and we’ll give you a card and a glass. The card itself has a QR code on it, and you can use the QR to put money on the card. As soon as you have money on the card, you can pour right then,” Weese explained.
The goal is to continue the kiosk model by adding future spots in bike shops, small ski resorts, and elsewhere in Colorado Springs and Denver.
