Carne y Hueso is the latest concept to join the new North Park development in progress on University Avenue. What Now San Diego previously shared that The Waldorf will feature design-forward residential units and Moniker General Outpost, and will also be joined by the Mexican restaurant Carne y Hueso.

Behind the concept are sisters Chantelle and Crystal Godinez, restaurant industry regulars who recently opened Sunday Breakfast Society in Chula Vista’s Eastlake area. The photogenic brunch spot features elevated breakfast dishes like souffle pancakes and Mexican classics like breakfast tacos and Birriaquiles.

Construction is underway on The Waldorf, revitalizing the 1950s-era Waldorf Television Building which more recently housed the Last Real Gym. Nathan Cadieux of Purpose Real Estate Group will transform the iconic 12,000-square-foot property alongside OBR Architecture and Moniker Design Studio.

At the base of the building, Moniker General Outpost will bring together Moniker Coffee Co. and Shop Moniker in the 2,000-square-foot space while Carne y Hueso will move into the neighboring 3,100-square-foot unit.

While few details are known about Carne y Hueso, Eater reports that we can expect renovations to be completed and the new businesses to debut by Summer 2023
