The Red Chickz has been on the rise since gaining a cult-like following through TikTok. Founded in 2018 by Shawn Lalehzarian, the fast-casual restaurant serves up its proprietary recipe for Nashville Hot Chicken but sets itself apart from other fast-growing hot chicken restaurants with its expanded menu.

In early 2022, the brand began offering franchise deals to expand in the Western States, including California, Nevada, Arizona, and Texas. The Red Chickz currently operates two locations in LA and Culver City.

Last year, What Now San Diego shared the news that The Red Chickz signed a partnership agreement with local franchisee Mattie Shlemon to bring three locations to San Diego. A recent permit filing places the first location at The Shoppes at Carlsbad, replacing the now-closed Pluck United.

The menu brings a fresh take to the usual offerings of tenders and sandwiches by its competitors. The Red Chickz menu gives guests options like Chickz N French Toast, Chickz Tacos, and Loaded Chickz Potato Wedges. Their menu also offers Halal and vegetarian options like the Chickz Cauliflower Sandwich, plus specialty sauces and sides like fried cheese curds.

An opening timeline for The Red Chickz in Carlsbad has yet to be announced. Get to know the menu by visiting their website
