Chef Kelly English has closed the doors to Pantà, the restaurateur’s Catalan-inspired bar that replaced Restaurant Iris and the French bistro La Tourelle before that — both owned by English.

But the space won’t sit dark.

English, who shuttered the eatery on September 17, 2023 with seemingly no public announcement, plans to covert the space to “a mix of private rentals and occasional pop-ups,” according to the Daily Memphian.

“What I know about what I need to do as a human is fewer things better,” English told Daily Memphian which noted the restaurateur’s other endeavours which include East Memphis’s Iris, Second Line, and Fino’s sandwich shop which operates two locations.

“This is not a decision we wanted to make, but we’re really excited about the direction we’re going,” English told the publication.
