Bafang Dumpling, a Taiwan-based potsticker and dumpling eatery with locations throughout the country, is developing a new Kearny Mesa location at 8330 Clairemont Mesa Blvd.
Bafang Dumpling is nowhere close to slowing down, especially in San Diego. The Taiwanese chain was recently announced as a new tenant coming to the upcoming Zion Market development, slated to open in Summer 2024, according to Eater SD. This will be the company’s second San Diego location following its city debut at the Village at Mira Mesa at the beginning of the year. Bafang Dumpling has nearly 1,300 locations in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China.
While Bafang Dumplings has hundreds of locations throughout Asia, there are only a handful of sites in the United States, specifically in California. So far, the company has locations in the City of Industry, Chino Hills, Temple City, Gardena, Brea, and Torrance. The company is also working on new sites in Cerritos, Cypress, and Irvine. Despite the company offering franchise opportunities to those in Asia, all United States locations are corporate-owned. Bafang Dumplings is currently working on expanding its franchise opportunities into America.
Other tenants recently announced for the Zion Market development include Dot & Dough, Marugame Udon, and Shoo Loong Kan Hot Pot, whose parent company is also opening a Japanese barbecue restaurant and a boba shop. There will also be a cafe tenant who specializes in Vietnamese coffee. The space will also include a 25,000-square-foot food hall at the top of the market, featuring a mix of international food stalls and a cocktail speakeasy.
