Burning Barrel Distillery Site is Making Progress in Placerville

Placerville beer lovers should get ready to explore the distillery's crazy sours, award-winning lagers, and artisan cocktails.

Burning Barrel Distillery has been working on its Placerville location at 640 Main St. since 2022. According to a recent Facebook post, the new location is finally moving forward and is anticipated to open by the end of the year.

“After years of dreaming, planning, working, and waiting, we are ecstatic to announce our new endeavor: Burning Barrel Brewing and Spirits. Located on Main St. in historic downtown Placerville, your experience awaits,” reads the post.

According to site plans originally submitted to the Placerville Planning Commission, Burning Barel Distillery will occupy a 3,402-square-foot space. The Facebook post mentioned that the Placerville location will feature 24 beer taps serving Burning Barrel beers with on-site distilling. The location will also offer artisan cocktails and a small kitchen serving limited craft food items.

Founded by 23-year-old Duncan Alexander in Rancho Cordova, Burning Barrel Distillery is known for making some of the craziest sours and award-winning lagers in the area, including a few quirky pastry sours.
